Welcome to my new site (WIP)

Remember when the internet was fun?

I am a half Irish/half Dutch travelling artist who is available for custom commissions and community project work.

I run free/payf workshops in the UK and EU.

Pls note: This website/portfolio/digital window into my life only shows little fragments of what I do/have done. It is meant as a spark plug starting point for irl stuff.

YOU ARE HERE 🔴 VAGABOND ARTIST

It is a privilege to have the freedom to move, it is unconventional to move as an exploratory practise using intuition rather than having a fixed goal or destination.

The path comes into focus as I walk it. My gait is steadfast, not led by whimsical currents. I seek out opportunities to listen, learn and create, move and find connection with different lands and cultures.

8 months ago I sold most of my belongings, left my job, home and mates and began rucksack life.

I kept was my art studio in Liverpool, which I return to every now and then to work on commissioned projects.

From crewing on historical tall ships to state sponsored raves on the Danube, a 16hr stormy solo hike in the Norwegian fjords to sleeping on train station platforms.

I travel simply with limited resources. Volunteering on different community projects in exchange for food and board and taking on paid work opportunities where I find them.

I run free/PAYF public workshops wherever I go, often using found materials and the social historical context of the area I’m in.

It feels meaningful to bring people together to be creative and share ideas. I have met many fascinating people, clowns, priests, captains, refugees, farmers, scientists, poets, buskers, even a businessman with a tiramisu empire.

I travel as a witness and write down many of the things I see and hear. This practise bolsters my faith in the human capacity for compassion and generosity, it is a salve.

I’m sure I won’t fully understand why I have chosen to live like this for a bit until I’m older. Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.
